Community Events
We take pride in our community involvement! Catch our solar powered, traveling Lighthouse at annual events including Norman Bird Sanctuary’s Harvest Fair, Columbus Day Parade, Touch-A-Truck, and many more.
Educational Programs
In
the Office
Can you help one morning or afternoon a week? We need help packaging and shipping
Gift Certificates, Gift Shop orders, and Island For Sale
orders.
Interns
& Student Projects
Education Intern - Help with school programs at Rose Island
and in the classroom.
On
the Island
Property Maintenance -
Are you good at gardening, painting, lawn mowing, and/or
general home handy work? We need help with seasonal work,
preferably on a regular schedule. Will train!
Beach Debris
Clean Up - Everyone who visits the lighthouse is
asked to pick up beach debris that is counted twice a year
- in April (Earth Day) and in September (Get the drift
and bag it). Scout and other Youth groups are encouraged
to sign up for the spring or fall work session. Minimum
4 people needed.
Our Events
Help us set up or
clean up and maybe do a job in between - and get our
"volunteer" ticket rate during some events. We celebrate the summer annually with a Barbecue on July 4th and our Clambake in August. Both events sell out every year without fail! After that there's the much anticipated Seal Tours, the New Year's Day picnic, and more! Check out our calendar of events!

Furniture Repair and Refinishing -
We have chairs, rockers, tables and bookcases that need
spiffing up. Some projects are more intricate than others,
so we can use all skill levels.
News clippers - send
us newspaper and magazine articles that mention the lighthouse
or Rose Island (include name of paper and date of publication)
Scanning photographs & articles - We've got historic
as well as recent photos, plus news articles to scan and
catalogue. This is a great opportunity to learn if you
don't already know how to use the equipment. Will train
someone who can work on a regular schedule (i.e., one afternoon
a week).
Any other things to use your skills
that we haven't thought of yet.
Of course, you can help as a Goodwill Ambassador
and Fund Raiser anytime - Tell people about us and suggest
they check out our website where they can find out more.
